Boots was developed in response to the lack of opportunities for artists in Saint Louis, Missouri. This nonprofit art lab provided emerging to mid-career artists and curators support to create and exhibit contemporary artwork. The brick building was purchased and restored in 2005, after which I founded Boots and served as director from 2006-2010. Located on historic Cherokee Street, it was one of the pillars that contributed to establishing this rapidly growing arts district in South Saint Louis.
