Machu Picchu on Drugs

This performance was inspired by my first experience attending a New Music Concert. The show was - Machu Picchu/Sacred Light, a multimedia piece featuring slides, paintings, t’ai chi, and electronic music (10 & 12/97, 3/99), with Bill Kohn, Randall Hyman, and Anna Lum. I invited my sister and dad, expecting to hear traditional Andean music, but instead, it was an unusual (in a good way) performance. When I asked my father for his opinion, he said, "What's the comical, this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs. Well, this is Machu Picchu, this is Machu Picchu on drugs." That night was very insightful and influential for my creative practice, so I wanted to honor that moment through this performance.
